For those who want to stretch their legs and breathe the freshest air in Morocco, Imlil is the destination. Sitting at 1,740m, this village is the Chamonix of Morocco, the base camp for all mountaineers climbing Mt. Toubkal. You don't need to be a pro climber for this day trip. We take a gentle but scenic trek (2-3 hours) through the valley. Guided by a local mountain expert, you'll walk through terraces of cherry and walnut trees, passing small waterfalls and irrigation channels. We hike up to the village of Aremd, a cluster of stone houses perched on a moraine spur, offering incredible views of the snowy peaks. Lunch is served in a local guesthouse—simple, hearty Berber food tasted on a terrace with a million-dollar view. This is a day to connect with the mountains and the resilient culture of the people who live there.
