Marrakech is a city written in stone, wood, and tile. To truly read it, you need a guide who speaks the language of architecture. This tour focuses on the two most significant monuments in the city, artifacts of the Saadian and Alawite dynasties. We start at the Bahia Palace, a sprawling masterpiece of 19th-century luxury. Built for the Grand Vizier, it is a maze of painted cedar ceilings, marble courtyards, and lush gardens. Your guide will transport you back to the days of the Harem, explaining the politics and intrigues of the Vizier's court. From there, we navigate the winding streets to the Ben Youssef Madrasa. Once the largest Islamic college in North Africa, it is a jewel of Marinid architecture. Having recently undergone a massive restoration, its walls sing with intricate 'Gebs' (stucco) and 'Zellige' (mosaic) work. Stand in the silent central courtyard and imagine the lives of the 900 students who once studied scripture here. This is an intellectual and visual feast for anyone who loves design and history.
